My wife’s favourite bird is the Brown Hooded Kingfisher. We’ve had some breeding in our garden over the years and there are always a few around. For Christmas, I thought it would be a good idea to do a pastel version of one to give to her. It takes quite a bit of effort for me so I can normally only draw for about an hour at a time before I get too stiff. It helps if I go through stretches and a warmup before starting. Despite the difficulties I thank God I can still do my artwork. I hope you enjoy the progress and final drawing.
