My wife’s favourite bird is the Brown Hooded Kingfisher.

After my blog about transitioning to pastels, I received a message from world-renowned artist Kim Donaldson.

I knew today was my birthday. I did not know that it would bring with it a new child.

With my left hand it seemed to be a lot easier and allowed me more control. Slowly but surely, I was becoming a lefty.

I ordered a set of polychromos pastel pencils and pastel sticks and started my next drawing, a young Kalahari lion.

And so began my slow progression through, what I like to call, my art rehab, and with it came a whole lot of experimentation.

I was pleased with the outcome. I could draw again.

The first time I tried to draw again was in August 2017, almost a year after my accident.
